• Position: Plant Maintenance Manager – Full Time

  • Summary of the Role

    The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the repairs and maintenance to all equipment and other major electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems in our plant facility. As well as overseeing the preventative maintenance programs. Our Pickering Facility will provide production, cultivation and sale of medical cannabis.

    This is a hands-on role, and the Manager will be working from a start-up to a rapidly growing operation.  As the facility builds, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the maintenance team responsible for 24/7 coverage.


    • Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program
    • Schedule routine inspections by creating and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule of the facility, machinery and equipment and assign follow up for findings as needed.
    • Review and delegate work order requests for plant maintenance
    • Ensure timely completion of required maintenance projects
    • Monitor the Vendors’ and Contractors’ agreements as
    • Inventory management and control of maintenance items and assists in physical inventories
    • Identify and prioritize company objectives and find improvements to the engineering and maintenance process
    • Design and implement consistent systems and processes
    • Build as needed a maintenance team and be able to guide, direct, organize and develop an engaged Maintenance team
    • Once built, ensure that members of the maintenance team receive and complete ongoing training and
    • Routine Administrative duties including scheduling of contractors
    • Maintain a clean workspace to ensure a safe work environment
    • Responsible for the Health & Safety of the Plant Facility
    • Compliance with building safety code, fire plan, and fire extinguishers inspection plan
    • Proposal and implementation of solutions to reduce operational expenditures
    • Coordinate major repairs and other capital extensive projects
    • ensure the facility is fully operational at all times
    • Liaison between non-ops departments and facilities management
    • Prepare a budget for the fiscal year and prepare monthly variance reports
    • Prepare RFP documentation for proposed projects
    • Maintain and develop relationships with all internal stakeholders (managers) and report on departmental projects
    • Commissioning of processes and equipment once installed
    • Installation of new equipment, relocation of existing equipment, and upgrades to existing equipment
    • Promote and ensure a safe work environment with strict adherence to H&S protocols
    • Ensure work is completed in accordance with any company SOP’s and guidelines to safeguard product and process integrity
    • Other duties as assigned


    Successful Applicants will:

    • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing a predictive and preventative maintenance program in a 24/7 facility
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of HVAC, Lighting and Irrigation
    • Show experience of vendor management and sourcing of materials and contractors
    • Possess a high degree of focus & attention to detail with the ability to communicate problems and provide solutions for improvements.
    • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
    • Work independently or in a team environment and provides guidance and assistance as
    • Show attention to detail and strong organizations skills
    • Display excellent written, oral communication skills
    • Show their flexibility, adaptability and experience working in a rapid growth environment (an asset)
