We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, detail oriented and a critical thinker with strong research and drafting skills to manage legal activities in our fast-paced, growing business. Must be able to provide sound and practical legal advice with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, flexible and have strong interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of commercial and real estate law.
Prepare and/or draft a variety of legal documents, including contracts, tenancy
agreements, shareholder agreements, JV documents, memos, opinions, etc.
Provide legal advice in real time to the business in connection with its day to day operations. Assist the business directly and independently in matters of reasonable complexity.
Work closely with the business to ensure compliance with The Cannabis Act, local laws and company policies.
Effectively communicate with legal and non-legal staff within the Company at all levels and with external lawyers, consultants and advisors.
Provide advice on M&A and financing activities, including the drafting of agreements without significant assistance or oversight, as required.
Negotiating, reviewing, revising and interpreting a broad range of commercial documents.
Manage privacy and risk management initiatives of the company.
Ensuring compliance with legal filings, as required.
Conduct legal research.
Control external legal spend, working within prescribed budgets.
Perform other legal related projects as assigned.
Previous experience in medical or pharmaceuticals products considered an asset.
Superior analytical, collaboration and negotiation skills.

Successful Applicants will have:
Law degree and Member in good standing of the Ontario Bar Association
3-5 years of experience in general and commercial law
Working at a medium or large law firm or in-house counsel is an asset.
